The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has renewed its legal bid to nullify the 2024 National and Provincial Elections, arguing that the polls were neither free nor fair.
This comes eight months after the party withdrew its initial application in the Electoral Court, stating at the time that the case was not ready for hearing. Now, it claims to have "incontrovertible evidence" of voter irregularities that raise serious concerns about the integrity of the elections held on May 29.
Among its key arguments, the MK Party highlights what it describes as "alarming" voting irregularities. It also presents what it calls a "credible and accurate" expert report, which questions the reliability of the Digital Votes Capturing and Reporting System, particularly citing a two-hour system downtime on May 31.
The party is asking the court to set aside the election results and order fresh polls within 90 days.
