South African motorists can expect significant fuel price cuts starting Wednesday, April 2nd. According to unaudited month-end data from the Central Energy Fund, petrol prices are set to decrease by approximately 64 cents per litre for 93 Unleaded and 78 cents for 95 Unleaded. Diesel prices are also expected to drop between 90 and 92 cents per litre.
The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy will confirm the official adjustments early this week. The expected decreases are primarily driven by lower international fuel prices, which contributed between 52 and 66 cents per litre to the petrol price reduction and up to 80 cents for diesel.
In a further relief for consumers, the General Fuel Levy and Road Accident Fund Levy will remain unchanged for the third consecutive year, avoiding additional costs at the pump.
This comes after a minor seven-cent decrease in March, which followed four consecutive months of fuel price hikes.
