The South African Weather Service has confirmed that the Level 2 Yellow Warning for heavy downpours in parts of KwaZulu-Natal will be lifted this evening. The warning was issued due to expected disruptive rain, which could cause flooding in roads, low-lying bridges, and settlements in the northeastern areas.
Forecaster Ayanda Ntsele stated that the rain would clear up overnight, with better conditions expected for the weekend.
"Friday will see an 80% chance of showers and thundershowers across the eastern parts of the province, with a 60% chance over the interior," Ntsele said. "By Saturday, conditions will improve, with partly cloudy skies and fine weather across most areas."
Saturday is expected to bring warmer temperatures, reaching averages of 25°C, possibly even 30-31°C in the northern parts of the province. There is a 30% chance of showers and thundershowers in western KZN, but no weather alerts are in effect for Saturday.
For Sunday, a 60% chance of rain is expected in the western parts of the province, with a 30% chance of showers elsewhere. No weather alerts have been issued for Sunday as of now.
The Weather Service advises residents to remain cautious of possible localized flooding in affected areas, especially during the heavy rainfall on Friday.
