Umzimkhulu River Bridge to Close for Six Months for Rehabilitation

The Umzimkhulu River Bridge on P3-1 at KM 3.575 is set to be closed for six months as part of an extensive repair and rehabilitation project, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport has announced.

The closure will take effect on Wednesday, 12 March 2025, at 2:00 PM, and motorists have been advised to use alternative routes P464 and N2 during this period.

MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Mr. Siponiso Duma, has assured the public that the project is crucial to improving infrastructure safety and ensuring long-term stability.

The rehabilitation work forms part of the province’s commitment to infrastructure development, with the department emphasizing its dedication to delivering quality road networks.

Motorists are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and exercise patience as the necessary work is carried out.
