The M4 Freeway, southbound at the Virginia Airport off-ramp, will be closed for repairs after heavy rains caused the road surface to crack. Engineers are currently assessing the extent of the damage, and the closure is expected to take place soon. Motorists are urged to find alternate routes.
In addition to this closure, several roads in the region are facing hazards:
- R102 (Glen Anil to White House): A tree branch obstructs the left lane on a blind rise. Drivers should keep to the right lane.
- Umhlanga Rocks Drive (northbound): There has been an accident near the BP garage, before the Sunningdale traffic lights. Caution is advised due to a blind rise and corner.
- Rinaldo Road (towards Umhlanga Rocks Drive): The roadway is sinking near Harrison, keep right.
- M4 Northbound (Glenore to La Lucia): Sand banks are present on the left side of the road.
- M4 Northbound (La Lucia to Umhlanga): A tree is protruding into the northbound lane.
- Brownsdrift Road (lower end): A tree has fallen; proceed with caution.
- Cypress Road, Glen Anil: A tree is down, creating an obstruction.
- Allamanda, Glenhills, Ryde Place: There are several obstructions; use caution.
- Northway (outside Fatima): The road is reduced to one lane, northbound.
Motorists are advised to slow down, increase following distances, and remain alert as they navigate these hazardous areas. Stay safe!
