Two suspects accused of murdering a police officer in Springs, Ekurhuleni, are set to return to a local Magistrate’s Court next Thursday.
Nthuthuzelo Mana and Benjamin Ntuli appeared in court on Wednesday, but the case was postponed for further investigation. The pair is accused of fatally shooting Captain Wynand Du Toit, who was attached to Springs SAPS, during a robbery at a supermarket in Geduld on Sunday.
HAWKS spokesperson Thatohatsi Mavimbela confirmed the details of the incident. “Captain Du Toit was shot and killed on Sunday, the 16th, during a robbery at a supermarket in Geduld, Springs. The pair made their first appearance at the Springs Magistrate’s Court. Mana is currently in hospital and appeared in absentia. The matter has been postponed to Thursday, the 27th of February, for further investigations.”
