Postbank has issued an urgent call to all SASSA grant beneficiaries to upgrade to the new black Postbank card before the deadline on February 28, as the current SASSA gold cards are being phased out.
The transition to the black card is essential for beneficiaries to continue receiving their grants without disruptions. According to SASSA, the new card features biometric authentication and enhanced encryption, offering improved security and faster access to payments.
Postbank CEO Nikki Mbengashe emphasized the importance of the switch, stating, “People need to change their cards because, like any card, they do expire. The yellow card will stop working after February 28. For security and compliance, beneficiaries must upgrade to the new card.”
Mbengashe also highlighted the added convenience of the black card, allowing beneficiaries to withdraw cash at retailers or use it for direct purchases. “It provides easy access to funds, enables swiping at any retailer, and even allows cash withdrawals when needed. Upgrading to the black card is ultimately in the best interest of grant recipients,” she added.
Beneficiaries are urged to make the switch as soon as possible to avoid any delays in receiving their payments.
