Police Minister Senzo Mchunu is set to kick off nationwide festive season operations in Cape Town today. The initiative aims to ensure the safety of South Africans and visitors during the busy holiday period.

Joined by senior police management, Mchunu will oversee various crime prevention efforts, including roadblocks and search-and-seizure operations. The launch underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing public safety during the festive season.

As part of the programme, the Minister will attend a passing-out parade for 500 newly trained officers in Belhar. He is also scheduled to continue the operations in the Eastern Cape on Sunday and KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.

These operations form a critical component of a broader strategy designed to reduce crime and protect communities during this high-traffic period.
