South African Airways (SAA) has been forced to cancel 60 percent of its flights due to an ongoing strike by pilots affiliated with the SAA Pilots Association. The pilots are demanding a 15.7 percent pay increase and improved working conditions, while the airline has offered an 8 percent hike.

The strike has disrupted flights to and from major destinations, including Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Windhoek, and Mauritius.

In response, SAA has assured passengers that they will be accommodated on the next available flights, though further cancellations and delays are expected. The airline is continuing to negotiate with the pilots in hopes of reaching a resolution.
