Five additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the weekend murders of five individuals in the Nyezane area of Estcourt, KwaZulu-Natal. This latest round of arrests brings the total number of suspects detained to six.

Provincial police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda reported that the suspects are believed to be involved in multiple stock thefts and murder cases in the Amangwe region.

During the arrests, police seized two AK-47 assault rifles along with 115 rounds of ammunition, two pistols with 12 rounds of ammunition, and a .38 special revolver with one round of ammunition. They also recovered a vehicle that the suspects allegedly used to flee the crime scene.

Notably, one of the firearms was linked to a man who was killed during the Sunday mass shooting. Investigations led authorities to a residence in Ezakheni, where another firearm was discovered.

Netshiunda stated that the recovered firearms will undergo ballistic testing to determine whether they are connected to other crimes in the province. The investigation is ongoing as police work to uncover more details surrounding this violent incident.
