Police have arrested three additional suspects in relation to the murder of a 19-year-old first-year Stellenbosch University student earlier this week. The student was fatally stabbed while riding his bicycle on Borcherd Street in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

With these latest arrests, the total number of suspects in custody has risen to four, including a 19-year-old male apprehended shortly after the incident. This suspect is expected to appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrate’s Court today.

Police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie reported, “The victim was riding his bicycle down Borcherd Street, Stellenbosch, when he was accosted, stabbed in the neck, and robbed of his personal belongings. An intricate investigation by Stellenbosch detectives, in collaboration with Crime Intelligence, led to the arrest of a 19-year-old male suspect within hours of the crime.”

Pojie further confirmed that three additional suspects—two males aged 29 and 28, and a 31-year-old female—were arrested in Cloetesville, Stellenbosch, as the investigation continues.
