Cape Town Police Seize Counterfeit Sporting Goods Worth Over R2.5 Million

Police in Cape Town have confiscated counterfeit sporting goods valued at over R2.5 million during a search operation in Stikland. The Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team, in collaboration with the Anti-Economic Task Team, carried out the operation on a truck located at a premises in Brug Street.

Provincial police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi, confirmed the seizure and provided details of the search. "Officers searched the suspicious truck and discovered 22 bags containing branded sporting socks. This led to the confiscation of a large consignment of counterfeit sporting goods," said Swartbooi.

No arrests have been made so far, but investigations are ongoing. The police are continuing efforts to clamp down on the illegal trade of counterfeit goods in the province.
