The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating allegations against Western Cape police officers accused of assaulting a bar owner and her customers during an incident at the Beverly Hills Tavern in Fisantekraal last Sunday.
The officers are also accused of stealing money from the establishment during the operation. Despite the severity of the accusations, no arrests were made on the day.
Tavern owner Elmarie Witbooi claims this is not the first time her business has been raided by police, alleging she is being unfairly targeted and extorted by local authorities. The investigation is ongoing as IPID looks into the matter.
