National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has lauded the efforts of law enforcement in dismantling transnational organized crime syndicates following a significant drug bust in Fourways, north of Johannesburg, last night.

Masemola, who visited the scene, praised the police for their dedication to ensuring community safety and addressing criminal activities. "Our communities and the safety of all people, including businessmen, should not be threatened by criminals. Continue to confront kidnappers and drug dealers with the same resolve as other criminals. Thank you to everyone, including the generals leading you," Masemola stated.

The operation, driven by intelligence, led officers to a hotel in Eastgate and two apartments in Fourways. There, they arrested six suspects and seized R300 million worth of drugs, believed to be crystal meth.

In a separate operation, police successfully rescued a businessman who was kidnapped earlier this month from a mosque in Helderkruin, Roodepoort. The rescue took place at a house in Lenasia, following the arrest of two suspects last week. Eight alleged kidnappers, including three Tanzanian nationals, have been apprehended.

National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe emphasized the commitment of the force to combat transnational crime. "Our officers are tirelessly working to dismantle drug trafficking syndicates. The recent successes reflect their dedication and collaboration with private security partners. We will continue our relentless pursuit of those involved in the illicit drug trade," Mathe said.
