Workers' union Nehawu has called for an explanation regarding the unpaid wages of security guards at Northdale Hospital. On Wednesday, guards protested by blocking the entrance to the Pietermaritzburg facility, disrupting both entry and exit for all individuals.
Ayanda Zulu, a representative from the union, reported that their members quickly responded to the situation on Dr Chota Motala Road to restore order.
"We were alerted to the situation and promptly intervened to ensure normal operations resumed," Zulu said. "We stand firmly with our members, and it is imperative that employers fulfill their payment obligations and adhere to contractual agreements."
