The Free State Gambling and Liquor Authority has temporarily closed a club in Bloemfontein following the death of a man who was allegedly beaten outside the venue. The man's body was discovered in the parking area adjacent to the club early Monday morning.

A video circulating online shows three individuals, reportedly bouncers at the club, assaulting a patron. The disturbing footage has prompted widespread outrage and led to swift action from authorities.

Acting CEO of the Free State Gambling and Liquor Authority, Lefa Kalane, announced the temporary closure of the club. "The purpose of this visit is as a result of the incident that happened on Monday morning, where one of the patrons was found dead. It is the obligation of the authority to investigate, and upon investigation, we may invoke section 117 of the Free State Gambling and Liquor Authority Act to temporarily suspend the club's license until certain procedures are completed," Kalane stated.

Kalane further explained that the club's management must provide a detailed report within 14 days, after which the board will decide whether the establishment can resume operations. "From today, until such a decision is made, the club is not allowed to trade," Kalane added.

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about security and accountability within the hospitality industry, with many calling for stricter regulations and oversight.
