On Tuesday, Search and Rescue officials were present in Sundumbili, northern KZN, where the body of a newborn baby was discovered in a pit latrine toilet. IPSS Medical Rescue's Samantha Meyrick confirmed that the baby boy's body was recovered recently. "Unfortunately, the newborn baby boy, who had been disposed of in a pit latrine, was pronounced deceased on the scene. Metro fire services retrieved the body of the infant, which has been transferred to SAPS for further investigation."
