The MK party, led by former president Jacob Zuma, is taking legal action by filing papers with the Constitutional Court to halt the inaugural session of the seventh democratic Parliament.
The party alleges that the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) rigged the 2024 elections in favor of the ANC. Spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela argues that Parliament cannot convene without the participation of the MK party, which secured 58 seats. He contends that their grievances with the IEC were disregarded and deems the National Assembly's sitting as unlawful. Ndhlela asserts that if the elections were fair, MK would have emerged victorious rather than securing the third-highest number of votes.
The party is advocating for fresh elections due to irregularities such as ballots found in unusual locations, indicating that a recount would not produce accurate results.
