The eThekwini Municipality is actively responding to a significant sinkhole located in the heart of Durban's CBD. This follows the bursting of an underground water pipe over the weekend, prompting repair teams to concentrate on sealing the crater situated on Dr Yusuf Dadoo Street.

Repair crews from the Roads Department are diligently working to mend the damaged road and apply tar to the affected area, aiming for completion by Monday. Video footage from Saturday's incident depicts water flooding onto roads and pavements from the sinkhole.

In the interest of public safety, the city has closed the intersections of Dr Yusuf Dadoo, Bertha Mkhize, and David Webster streets. Metro police are redirecting traffic and urging motorists to steer clear of these roads.
