The Gauteng Education Department expresses profound sadness over a tragic incident where two young siblings, aged four and seven and attending Lesedi Primary School were fatally shot and burned inside their family home in Soshanguve, located north of Pretoria, over the weekend.

According to police investigations, the suspects were reportedly searching for the girls' father, who was absent at the time of the incident. The circumstances surrounding this tragic event are currently under investigation.

Steve Mabona, spokesperson for Gauteng Education, states that swift measures have been taken to provide support to those affected by this heartbreaking incident. The mother of the two girls has pleaded with the police to exhaust all efforts to apprehend the perpetrator responsible for her children's deaths.

In response to this tragedy, residents of Soshanguve are calling for enhanced police action to apprehend the perpetrator and are urging the community to come together to prevent further child murders in the area.
