Mother remanded in custody for allegedly killing her 18-year-old disabled son and cutting off his head.

Stephina Sefekwane Chuene, a 48-year-old woman from Limpopo, appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court for the brutal murder of her 18-year-old son.

She was remanded in custody until May 16, 2024, for a formal bail application. The murder occurred in Leshikishiki village at Lebowakgomo policing area, where the victim was found decapitated in his wheelchair next to a local tavern. Despite no witnesses at the scene, investigations led to the arrest of the mother, who was positively linked to the crime. The police seized a knife allegedly used in the murder.

Limpopo's provincial police spokesperson stated that the incident deeply shocked the community and the police force, condemning the mother's actions and emphasizing that the law will be enforced.
