While the organizers of the violent protests in Mahikeng, North West, remain unidentified, there is a blame game over who orchestrated the action.

During Monday's protest, a bus was torched in Extension 39, and a bakery truck was set alight in Magogoe village.

Local businessman Godfrey Mooketsi and social activist Thato Molosankwe accuse each other of instigating the violence.

Mooketsi denies involvement, claiming Molosankwe started the fires. He accuses Molosankwe of a previous fire incident at the Department of Public Works. Molosankwe, however, insists that Mooketsi is the leader behind the incidents.

North West Police Spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone reported the arrest of a 22-year-old suspect for intimidation, assault, and damaging property during the protest. The suspect will appear in court. Other cases, including robbery and damage to property, are still under investigation.

Police continue their investigations.
