4. Maa Kushmanda – The creator of the universe through her divine energy.

6. Maa Katyayani – The fierce form, destroyer of evil forces.

7. Maa Kalaratri – The dark goddess who removes fear and negativity.

8. Maa Mahagauri – The goddess of purity and serenity.

9. Maa Siddhidatri – The granter of spiritual wisdom and divine powers.

Together, these forms embody power (Shakti), compassion, and wisdom—qualities that inspire devotees to reflect upon their own lives and inner strength.

Traditions and Celebrations

Navaratri celebrations differ from region to region, showcasing the diversity of Indian culture:

• In Northern India, the festival culminates with Ramlila performances and Dussehra, symbolising Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana.

• In Western India (especially Gujarat), vibrant nights of Garba and Dandiya Raas bring communities together in joyous dance.

• In Southern India, Navaratri is marked by Golu (doll displays), devotional music, and classical dance performances.

• In Eastern India, particularly West Bengal, Navaratri coincides with the grand celebration of Durga Puja, where elaborately decorated pandals and idols of Maa Durga are worshipped with great fervour.

During the festival, many devotees observe fasting, wear specific colours each day to honour the goddess, and offer traditional foods such as fruits, sweets, and symbolic items unique to each form of Durga.

Navaratri is not only a festival of rituals but also a reminder of inner transformation. It inspires people to conquer their inner demons—fear, anger, ego, and negativity—just as the Goddess destroys evil forces.
