Bollywood star and Shiv Sena leader Govinda is recovering after undergoing emergency surgery on Tuesday at Criti Care Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai. The actor accidentally shot himself in the leg when his licensed revolver misfired. Govinda, who is also a former MP, is now out of danger and recovering well.

In an audio statement released by Shiv Sena leader Krishna Hegde, Govinda expressed his gratitude to well-wishers. "Namaste, pranam. I am Govinda. Due to your blessings, my parents’ blessings, and the grace of my guru… I was shot, but the bullet has been removed. I thank the doctors here, especially Dr. Garwal. Thank you all for your prayers and support,” he said.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning as Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata. According to his close aide Shashi Sinha, the actor was handling his licensed revolver when it fell and discharged, injuring him below the left knee. "He is out of danger and doing well. The bullet has been removed, and he is speaking to everyone," Sinha confirmed.

Govinda's daughter, Tina Ahuja, is by his side at the hospital. She shared that her father underwent surgery and will be monitored in the ICU for a day before doctors assess his condition further. Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja, who was traveling at the time of the accident, rushed back to Mumbai to be with him.
