Police are investigating a case of carjacking and kidnapping following the disappearance of 55-year-old educator Gert Adams.
Adams was allegedly abducted on October 4, 2026.
Police spokesperson Palesa Thabana says Adams contacted his wife telephonically before the call was abruptly disconnected. He was subsequently reported missing.
His vehicle was recovered in Klippan, Welkom, last Tuesday, with no occupants inside. Thabana says Adams’ cellphone and other personal belongings were found in the vehicle.
The search for Adams is ongoing, while police investigations continue.
The motive behind the alleged kidnapping remains unclear.
