Search and rescue efforts are continuing following devastating floods in Nepal, but authorities are facing challenges as the operation enters another phase.
According to Travel Times, 587 foreign tourists remain reported missing following the Bhotekoshi flood on 26 August.
The publication says the ongoing uncertainty has left families around the world anxiously awaiting information about their loved ones, with calls for authorities to provide timely, accurate and verified updates.
There has, however, been some positive news.
Polish national Ksenia Wińska, who was previously listed as missing, has made contact with Travel Times through social media and confirmed that she is safe.
The publication said her case highlights the importance of regularly updating lists of missing and rescued people as new information is verified.
Travel Times said the original list was based on information provided by Nepalese government authorities, including the Department of Tourism. It has urged authorities to strengthen efforts to search for missing people, identify victims and improve the sharing of information with families.
Families still waiting for news about their relatives have been advised to remain in contact with their respective embassies and consular authorities in Nepal.
Travel Times has also offered to voluntarily assist foreign visitors and their families by helping them connect with relevant authorities, sharing verified information and raising concerns through its media platform.
The publication said it could not guarantee an outcome but would continue supporting families as the search and rescue operation continues.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as efforts to locate and identify those still missing continue.
