Siya Kolisi has recovered from a hamstring injury and will return to captain South Africa when the Springboks face New Zealand in the second Test in Cape Town on Saturday.
Head coach Rassie Erasmus confirmed that the 35-year-old flanker has been cleared to play after missing last weekend's opening Test, which New Zealand won 33-16 in Johannesburg.
Kolisi has endured an injury-disrupted season and was forced to miss South Africa's Nations Championship fixtures against England, Scotland and Wales in July.
His return to the Test arena against Argentina in Buenos Aires earlier this month was also cut short after he suffered a hamstring injury just 25 minutes into the match.
Erasmus said the injury was a Grade 2 hamstring tear and explained that the coaching and medical staff had taken a cautious approach to his recovery.
He said Kolisi was required to complete full-speed running sessions earlier this week and experienced no discomfort, clearing him to return against the All Blacks.
Paul de Villiers, who featured in the first Test and had been listed alongside Kolisi as an option at flank, has been left out of the matchday squad.
South Africa will be looking to level the four-Test series in Cape Town after suffering defeat in Johannesburg.
The teams will return to Johannesburg for the third Test on September 5 before travelling to Baltimore in the United States for the final match on September 12.
