The two criminal cases against suspended police Sergeant Fannie Nkosi have been consolidated and postponed to September 15 in the Regional Court in Pretoria.
The postponement will allow the State to disclose the case dockets as proceedings continue against the former Organised Crime Unit member.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) obtained a centralisation certificate, enabling the two matters against Nkosi to be combined and transferred to the Regional Court.
In the first case, Nkosi faces a charge of defeating the ends of justice. He is accused of posing as a senior police officer from Pretoria and allegedly interfering with evidence at the Thohoyandou Police Station in Limpopo in 2022.
The second case involves several charges, including theft, fraud and defeating the ends of justice. These charges stem from a police task team raid at Nkosi’s Pretoria North property.
Authorities allegedly discovered illegal ammunition, firearms, official police dockets and a substantial amount of cash at the property.
Nkosi has been in custody since his arrest in April and will remain behind bars until his next court appearance.
The State says it believes it has a strong case against the suspended officer, with the outstanding disclosure of the dockets expected to pave the way for the matter to proceed.
Nkosi was suspended from the South African Police Service in March while attached to the Organised Crime Unit.
