Suspended police sergeant Fannie Nkosi has been denied bail by the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court following his recent arrest on multiple serious charges.

Nkosi was taken into custody earlier this month after law enforcement officials raided his Pretoria North home, where they allegedly discovered several police case dockets, a stun grenade, ammunition, and more than R50,000 in cash.

In its ruling, the court found that Nkosi posed a risk of interfering with witnesses if released on bail. It further held that his release could undermine the proper functioning of the justice system and erode public confidence in law enforcement institutions.

Nkosi has also testified for eight days before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria, where he was questioned about alleged links to suspected criminal cartel figures Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and Katiso “KT” Molefe.

In an affidavit, Nkosi denied that the case dockets found in his possession were stolen, insisting he would plead not guilty to all charges.

During his earlier court appearance, he maintained his denial of wrongdoing and confirmed his intention to contest the charges against him.
