The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources says South Africa’s national fuel supply remains stable for now, despite rising uncertainty in global energy markets.

The assurance comes as volatility intensifies due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, raising concerns about potential disruptions to fuel availability.

Government has indicated that it is actively working to secure both crude oil and refined petroleum products. Officials confirmed that fuel consignments for March and early April had already been secured prior to the escalation of conflict, with deliveries expected in the coming weeks.

Authorities added that efforts are underway to strengthen the country’s long-term energy security, as part of measures to cushion against possible global supply shocks.
