Authorities were on the scene of an apparent murder-suicide in Tongaat on Tuesday afternoon, where a man and his two young children were discovered dead inside a home.
KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services responded to the incident at a residence in Shastri Circle, in the Belvedere area, after receiving reports of an emergency.
Spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said paramedics arrived to find two young girls, believed to be between the ages of four and six, lying unresponsive on a bed.
“Upon arrival, KZN VIP Medics assessed the scene. Tragically, all three occupants were declared deceased,” Naidoo said.
He added that the circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear.
Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) are investigating the incident and have launched a full inquiry to determine what led to the tragedy.
Police have not yet confirmed further details.
