The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Red Level 10 warning for Mpumalanga and Limpopo, as persistent heavy rainfall continues to batter the eastern parts of both provinces.
The weather service warned that the risk of widespread flooding remains critically high on Thursday and Friday, urging residents to exercise extreme caution.
In response to the extreme conditions, Kruger National Park has temporarily suspended access for day visitors until further notice. The precaution follows a recent incident in which several day visitors were trapped when a bridge at Crocodile Bridge Gate was submerged due to rising river levels.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and the public is urged to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas.
