The high-profile trial of alleged underworld figures Jerome “Donkie” Booysen, André Naude, and 13 co-accused is set to resume today in the Cape Town High Court. Proceedings were delayed last week after one of the defendants, Mark Lifman, was fatally shot outside the Garden Route Mall in George.
The accused face a range of charges, including the high-profile murder of Brian Wainstein, infamously known as the “steroid king.” In today’s proceedings, the court is expected to receive Lifman’s death certificate as evidence of his passing, allowing the trial to proceed with the remaining defendants.
The case has drawn significant public attention due to the involvement of several high-profile figures within alleged gang networks.
