An airliner travelling from Dublin to Rome was diverted to France on Thursday following a suspected bomb threat, prompting French authorities to deploy military aircraft to escort it.
According to French authorities, the aircraft, believed to be part of the Aer Lingus fleet, was escorted to Evreux airfield, west of Paris.
France's Air Force confirmed that military aircraft were dispatched as soon as the threat was reported.
The incident comes just days after approximately 10 flights across Europe were targeted by bomb threats on Tuesday.
The threats resulted in the temporary closure of an airport in Warsaw, Poland, while military aircraft were also scrambled in Rome.
Authorities have not provided further details regarding the latest threat or whether any explosives were found on board the diverted aircraft.
