The Pretoria Magistrates’ Court is expected to deliver judgment on Wednesday morning in the contempt case against North West businessman Suliman Carrim.
Carrim is accused of failing to appear before the Madlanga Commission after being subpoenaed to testify.
He was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport while allegedly preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia via Dubai.
The State has opposed his bail application, arguing that he poses a flight risk.
However, Carrim’s defence has disputed this, maintaining that he intended to return to South Africa after an alleged religious pilgrimage.
