The bail hearing of former police deputy commissioner Shadrack Sibiya continues at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court, with the State expected to conclude its closing arguments on Thursday.
Sibiya’s legal team wrapped up its submissions on Wednesday, arguing that he should be released on bail.
His lawyer, Estelle Killian, told the court that Sibiya was neither a flight risk nor a threat to witnesses.
Killian also urged the court to grant him bail, citing concerns about his health.
However, the State is opposing his release.
Sibiya faces charges including rape, sexual grooming, human trafficking and the negligent handling of a firearm.
