Disgraced former Crime Intelligence boss Feroz Khan is expected to ask for a postponement of his testimony before the Madlanga Commission following the fatal shooting of his uncle-in-law, Preggy Padayachee.

Padayachee was shot and killed on Monday night.

Khan was scheduled to begin giving evidence in camera before the commission on Tuesday.

His expected request comes after a previous dispute over his attendance at the inquiry. Last month, the commission announced that it would pursue criminal charges against Khan after he failed to appear despite being served with a subpoena.

The commission subsequently rejected Khan’s application for a postponement and ordered that he appear before the inquiry.

Khan’s testimony is expected to focus on matters relating to the commission’s investigation into allegations of corruption and criminality within the South African Police Service.

The commission is expected to consider any request for a further postponement following Padayachee’s death.
