The trial of seven men accused of the murders of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, is expected to get underway in the Durban High Court on Monday.
AKA and Tibz were shot and killed outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on 10 February 2023.
The pair’s deaths sparked a high-profile investigation, with the arrests of the suspects announced a year after the killings.
Two of the accused were later extradited from eSwatini following lengthy legal proceedings.
The seven men face charges including conspiracy to commit murder, murder, attempted murder and the unlawful possession of firearms.
The Durban High Court has set aside a month for the trial. Further court dates are expected to be finalised when the matter returns to court on 6 November.
The trial is expected to shed further light on the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two well-known South Africans.
