A 23-year-old woman has been shot and killed during an alleged armed robbery in Thembisa, east of Johannesburg.
The woman was found dead on Mapungubwe Street at around 5:45am on Monday.
According to police, she was reportedly on her way to work when she was attacked. Her belongings were taken during the incident.
Police say the woman has been identified, but her family had not yet been formally notified.
Authorities have stressed that preliminary investigations have found no link between the shooting and recent cases involving the discovery of women’s bodies in various parts of Ekurhuleni.
No arrests have been made.
Police are continuing to follow up on leads as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting continue.
