The Road Accident Fund (RAF) is taking its services to Ulundi in northern KwaZulu-Natal this weekend as part of an outreach programme aimed at making its services more accessible to rural communities.
The RAF currently has only one office in KwaZulu-Natal, located in Durban, making it difficult for some residents in rural areas to access its services.
The outreach programme will allow members of the public to access a range of RAF services closer to home.
These include registering new claims and reporting suspected fraudulent or unethical conduct by attorneys.
RAF Brand Management Officer Philile Sambo says the initiative is aimed at reaching communities that face challenges accessing the fund’s services.
“We’re basically taking our RAF services to the people who are not able to afford or access our services easily,” Sambo said.
She says the fund plans to visit different areas across KwaZulu-Natal to improve access, particularly for people living in rural communities.
“We’re going to Ulundi because we only have one office within the province at this point, so most people are unable to reach us,” she said.
The RAF says the outreach forms part of efforts to bring its services closer to communities that may otherwise struggle to travel to its Durban office.
