16-year-old pupil stabbed to death at Eastern Cape school

A 16-year-old pupil has been stabbed to death inside a classroom at Kuyasa Senior Secondary School in Dimbaza in the Eastern Cape.

The victim, identified as Siphosethu Jack, was allegedly attacked by another learner at the school.

According to information available, Jack had recently been transferred to the school by his parents, who were seeking to protect him from violence.

The incident has renewed concerns about learner safety and violence in South African schools, with calls for stronger measures to protect children on school premises.

Social Development Minister Dina Pule and Eastern Cape Education MEC Bukiwe Fanta have condemned the attack.

They say the incident underscores the urgent need for effective interventions to strengthen security at schools and ensure learners are protected.
