Alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi is expected to take the stand as he makes his fourth attempt to secure bail at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.
Mogotsi was arrested shortly after appearing before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria, where he gave testimony as part of investigations into allegations of criminality and interference within South Africa’s criminal justice system.
During his latest bail application, Mogotsi is expected to respond to claims by the State that he allegedly planned to escape from the court’s holding cells while disguised in a Department of Correctional Services uniform.
The court is also expected to receive a report from the Department of Correctional Services regarding the alleged escape plan.
Mogotsi, who is from the North West, faces several charges, including perjury, defeating the ends of justice and unlawful possession of a firearm.
His latest bail application comes after previous attempts to secure his release were unsuccessful.
