The bail hearing of a traditional healer accused of masterminding the murders of three people in Hammarsdale is set to resume on Tuesday afternoon.
Khethukuthula Ncayiyana was arrested last month by the Political Killings Task Team in connection with the 2020 murders.
He is accused of allegedly ordering the killings of ANC Youth League member Thamsanqa Gcabashe and Durban Metro Police officers Lindokuhle Madonsela and Ndumiso Thusi.
The deaths sent shockwaves through the Hammarsdale community, with the victims’ families continuing to seek answers six years after the killings.
Ncayiyana appeared before the Hammarsdale Magistrate’s Court as arguments in his bail application got underway.
The State has indicated that it will oppose his release on bail.
The case is being closely watched by the victims’ families and the wider community as investigators continue efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the triple murder.
Ncayiyana remains accused of the offences and has not been convicted.
