Residents of Ekangala in Mpumalanga are set to gain improved access to healthcare services with the opening of the new King Nyabela Hospital.
President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to officially open the state-of-the-art facility in the Nkangala District Municipality on Tuesday.
The hospital replaces and upgrades the former Middelburg Hospital, providing expanded healthcare services to communities in the area.
The 220-bed facility has been named after King Nyabela, a prominent leader of the Ndzundza-Ndebele people and son of King Mabhoko.
The hospital operates as a Level 1 district hospital and offers a range of clinical services designed to meet the healthcare needs of the surrounding communities.
Its departments include internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, as well as high-care services.
The opening is expected to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the region and provide residents with greater access to essential medical services closer to home.
