A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being shot multiple times on a pedestrian bridge in Umbilo, south of Durban.
The incident happened on Wednesday night on a pedestrian bridge between the M7 and Oliver Lea Drive.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said emergency teams found the man, believed to be in his 30s, in a critical condition.
The victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen and legs. Paramedics administered first aid before Advanced Life Support teams took over and stabilised him at the scene.
He was then rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Police were also at the scene and have launched an investigation into the shooting.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the motive and identity of the suspect or suspects, remain unclear.
