Residents supplied by the Durban Heights Waterworks are being advised to prepare for a planned 24-hour water maintenance shutdown from Friday, 24 July, to Saturday, 25 July.
The shutdown will begin at 7am on Friday, 24 July 2026, and is expected to end at 7am on Saturday, 25 July 2026.
The planned maintenance will allow municipal teams to install new valves as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the water network and reduce the risk of major infrastructure failures, including pipe bursts.
Ahead of the shutdown, the municipality will fill reservoirs to approximately 95% capacity. However, officials have warned that reservoir levels will gradually decline during the maintenance period, with water pressure being strictly managed to preserve available supplies.
The municipality has assured residents that the maintenance work will not affect the quality of the water supply.
Consumers are encouraged to store enough water in advance to meet their household needs for the duration of the planned interruption.
