Police have seized cannabis products valued at nearly R500,000 during raids at two stores in Durban, resulting in the arrest of one suspect.
The operation was carried out on Wednesday night by members of the SAPS Economic Infrastructure Task Team and the SAPS Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit, with support from the Excellerate K9 Unit.
The first raid took place at the Herb Life store on Florida Road, where officers allegedly observed customers openly exchanging cash for cannabis products.
Police searched the premises and reportedly recovered various cannabis products in different forms of packaging, as well as unidentified cannabis-infused edibles that allegedly had no supporting invoices.
A man who was allegedly serving customers at the till was arrested on charges of dealing in cannabis.
Officers later conducted a second raid at a cannabis store in Umhlanga, where all cannabis products found on the premises were confiscated.
The total value of the seized cannabis products from both stores is estimated at nearly R500,000.
The arrested suspect is expected to appear in court on Thursday as police continue their investigation.
