The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced the recall of 945 Nissan, Toyota and Lexus vehicles due to manufacturing defects that could pose significant safety risks to motorists.
The recall affects Nissan Qashqai SUVs, Toyota Land Cruiser 300 models and Lexus LX600 vehicles.
According to the NCC, Nissan is recalling 314 Qashqai SUVs after identifying a fault with the fuel pipe, which could wear over time and result in a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire or other safety hazards.
The affected Nissan Qashqai vehicles were sold between 4 May 2021 and 17 September 2024.
Toyota is recalling 507 Land Cruiser 300 vehicles, while Lexus is recalling 124 LX600 models.
The commission said the Toyota and Lexus recalls stem from manufacturing debris that may have been left inside the engine during production. The defect could cause engine failure or an unexpected engine stall while the vehicle is in motion, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.
The affected Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX600 vehicles were sold between December 2022 and May 2024.
The NCC has urged owners of the affected vehicles to contact their nearest authorised dealership to arrange for the necessary inspections and repairs at no cost. The commission said vehicle owners should respond promptly to the recall to reduce the risk of accidents and ensure the continued safe operation of their vehicles.
