A senior Crime Intelligence colonel wanted in connection with an alleged extortion case is expected to hand himself over to police on Monday morning.
The senior police officer is sought over allegations of extortion involving an estimated R350,000.
Police attempted to execute a warrant of arrest on Friday after raiding the colonel's property. However, the officer was not at home when authorities arrived.
Following the unsuccessful arrest attempt, the colonel's legal representatives reportedly entered into discussions with police to arrange for him to surrender voluntarily.
He is now expected to hand himself over to authorities on Monday, where he is likely to be formally arrested and processed.
Police have not released further details about the investigation, and the matter is expected to proceed through the courts once the suspect has appeared before a magistrate.
The case forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement authorities to investigate allegations of corruption and criminal conduct within the South African Police Service.
