Head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Advocate Andrea Johnson, has returned to work after missing a scheduled appearance before the Madlanga Commission earlier this week due to ill health.
The commission has since issued a fresh subpoena requiring Johnson to appear before the inquiry next week.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago confirmed that Johnson had resumed her duties and was back at work.
It is understood that she attended an executive committee meeting on Friday morning.
Johnson was due to testify before the commission on Monday but was unable to do so after reportedly falling ill.
Her legal representative, Advocate Apla Bodlani SC, informed the commission that Johnson had been rushed to hospital on Monday morning. A medical certificate submitted to the commission covered her absence until Wednesday, 15 July.
Her testimony has since been postponed, with the commission expected to determine a new date for her appearance.
The Madlanga Commission is investigating allegations relating to law enforcement and corruption, and last week heard claims that Johnson had allegedly interfered in the handling of an assault investigation involving suspended Crime Intelligence deputy head Feroz Khan.
Johnson is expected to respond to those allegations when she appears before the commission.
